Welcome!

Our Mission:
The Stayton Public Library Foundation's mission is to

raise funds to improve the Stayton Public Library facilities, provide an endowment to support library operations, and support special library programs and services.

The Stayton Public Library Foundation was organized in 1992 with a mission to build an addition to the Stayton Public Library.  In 1995 the Foundation was recognized as a 501( c )(3) non-profit organization by the IRS.

In 2007, after a successful capital campaign that allowed the Foundation to build a 7,500 square foot addition onto the library, the mission of the foundation was revised to include the creation of a long term, stable source of funds to enhance library services.

The Stayton Public Library serves roughly 24,000 patrons in stayton, sublimity, and surrounding rural areas in Marion and Linn Counties.

Library Welcomes New Director

Stayton welcomes Louise Meyers as the new Library Director!  Louise most recently served as the director of the Jefferson Library and has many years of experience in the library world.  The Foundation looks forward to having her at the library.  Louise replaces Pam Pugsley who has retired after serving as Library Director since 2001.  We thank Pam for all her hard work and dedication, she will be sorely missed.

Spirit Mountain Community Fund Awards $27,500 to The Stayton Public Library Foundation

The Stayton Public Library Foundation has been awarded a $27,500 grant from the Sprit Mountain Community Fund in order to purchase a heavy duty photo copier, Microfilm reader/printer, outdoor trash receptacles, and to put in a sidewalk from the community center parking lot to the library.  All of these items had been outside the scope of the Stayton library expansion project that was completed in July of 2007.

“This gift makes it possible for us to add some much needed equipment and enhancements to improve our library services”, said Dave Karr, Foundation president. “We are extraordinarily grateful to the Spirit Mountain Community Fund for their support and for providing us the grant for these improvements”, he added. read more...

Library's First Birthday Party

On Saturday, July 12th the Library celebrated the first year of its fabulous expanded and renovated building. Roughly 100 guests enjoyed cake and ice cream in the shady, south side of the building.  Kids got their faces painted, were given balloons, and bounced all afternoon in the bouncy house. Pam Pugsley, Library Director gave tours of the library and Dave Karr, Foundation President led everyone in a boisterous rendition of "Happy Birthday".

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate this momentous event, and especially to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this day special.

Woman leaves $394,000

to library foundation

The Stayton Library made a big impression on Marion Mossuto. So much so, that she left nearly $400,000 to the library foundation.

Mossuto, a former Friends of the Stayton Library president, died in December. Since then the details of her estate have been finalized and it was recently announced that she had bequeathed in excess of $394,000 to the foundation.

“Receiving a gift of that size isn’t something that happens everyday,” said Stayton Library Foundation President Dave Karr. “It’s extraordinary. We are very appreciative that Marion chose to make this gift to the foundation.” ...

... Karr said the foundation plans to use the money to pay off the remaining construction costs of the new addition and to seed its endowment fund. Foundation members anticipate having about $75,000 left over for the endowment.
